Hello Sir/Madam,

My name is Gregory Flett. I would like to take the time to introduce myself and tell you why I believe that I would be a great asset to your company.

Simply put, I am a builder. I strive to understand how everything works. I search to know how to do anything and everything - especially related to information technology. From a young age, this was evident. At ten years old, I dismantled my family computer to replace the CMOS battery and fell in love with the world encapsulated by the computer casing. By age twelve, I was building computers, teaching computer classes for senior citizens, configuring servers, and building websites. My thirst for knowledge was, and still is, unquenchable.

Although I had gained vast experience within the information technology (IT) field as a teenager, I could not see myself writing code for the rest of my life. My opinion changed when networking came into my the scope. I was completely fascinated by the process of networking. I discovered that if something wasn't working correctly, it wasn't dependent on missing a character at the end of a line; rather, the error that was causing the underlying problem was in the configuration or connection. In networking every 'packet' of information has a destination. Whether the destination is the printer down the hall or to a branch office in China, it always belongs somewhere.

Computer networking is a must for today's businesses. It is the underlying communications process for all companies large or small. To ensure a reliable network in your office and around the world, you need a competent network engineer, or a team of engineers. I am very familiar with most protocols that companies use. If I find that I am unfamiliar with a process; I will work at great length to ensure my proficiency.

I believe that I work best when exposed to a demanding workload. I find that challenges motivate me and I work well with both short-term and long-term initiatives. I am constantly striving to become more knowledgeable within the IT field. Currently, I am studying for my professional level Cisco certification. After that I plan to achieve expert level in several areas.

The quality of an employee is strongly dependent on the character of an individual. Throughout my education and experience, I have developed essential skills and knowledge to be successful in the field of IT. I find that the path to success within a workplace is strongly dependent on effective communication and skills related to teamwork. I have held numerous leadership positions throughout my lifetime and have participated in several successful teams.

Best Wishes,

Greg Flett
